WorldNav 7100 Firmware Update


GPS Postion Fix Updater

Some of the 7" model GPSs beginning with serial numbers LS7100-0309... may be experiencing difficulty locking into position today. We understand that the government has made a change in the satellite communication structure which is affecting some of our GPS devices. Rest assured, your device is still functional, you will simply need to update the firmware in order for the device to recognize the new satellites.

Before you attempt to update your device you will need to obtain a 1 or 2 gig SD memory card. If you do not have a blank card then contact TeleType to receive a free updater card. If you want to try to use your existing WorldNav memory card call TeleType for assistance as you may wipe out your navigation system if you are not careful. Please download the updater files here:

Download, then double click to get the files onto your computer. After the download, copy those 5 files to your blank SD memory card. If you do not have a blank SD card, contact TeleType and we can help you to use the existing WorldNav memory card.

Follow these instructions to update your GPS:

When you download the firmware you will see this image wherever your downloaded files usually appear.

 

There are 5 files that will appear.


1. Copy this Updater (.exe) to your memory card using Windows. Double click the Updater to start the process.
2. Turn your 7100 GPS off.
3. Insert the updater memory card and turn on the 7100 GPS.
4. Turn GPS On. The updating process will begin.


4. Close any error message that appears by pressing the X.

 


5. Wait until the message "OK to Reset" appears on the bottom of the screen.
6. Turn 7100 GPS off.
7. Eject updater memory card.
8. Re-insert Navigation memory card.
9. Process is complete. Use device normally.

Note: if you choose to use the WorldNav memory card, then you need to delete one file after the process is complete. The file is called autorun.exe it is one of the files that you copied to the memory card in this process.
