ESRI Shapefile to .TTM
File Converter

ESRI shapefiles are not only targeted for navigation purposes, but also for describing any geodesic data, such as terrain. ESRI defines how the data is stored and organized, but does NOT define which data is available.

Certain information is needed when converting the shapefiles to TTM format.  Here are the minimum attributes needed for a street shapefile (varies by location):

- street name
- city
- zip
- county
- province/state
- country
- points of interests (POIs)
- allowed driving directions (one-way, two-way)
- length of the road
- importance of the road (local, minor, major, highway)
- node elevation (expressed in routing values [-9 to 9] and not absolute above sea level elevation)

Other information necessary includes populations, seas, lakes, parks, rivers, other polygons, etc.

In this zip file you will find some sample shape files and documentation on how to run the converter.  You will need to run WinZip (or any other file extraction program) and extract the files to their own folder so that the proper file directories can be maintained.

The shape files are under the Sample directory.  To run the converter, double-click on convert.bat.  Please refer to the readme file for a detailed explanation of how the converter works.
